At around 12 o’clock (GMT) last night, twitter went down for a while showing up all sorts of errors, I’m not too sure what the issue was but there wasn’t even a fail whale, 403 & 504 errors showing up. When it came back online thousands of profile pictures were missing.
It seems the past few days have proved problematic for twitter, yesterday they found a bug that wouldn’t let users see other users status updates in their timelines, I believe the issue this morning/last night was a direct result of the twitter team trying to fix that issue, alas it caused another one, in this day and age with everyone being so darned vain, losing a profile pic is worse than not being able to see what @MartinBeauchamp might have said.
I’m sure twitter will resolve this issue within the next few hours, for more info on progress go here http://status.twitter.com/
Update 5:34 am (silly o’clock, I know!): According to a few people on twitter “If your avatar is birdish now, change your password and reload the changes” (via @tashacres) – I don’t like the sound of us having to change our passwords, let’s see what the official blog comes out with later…
Update 08:47 am: @CalvinRobinson Just tried resetting his password and it failed, it’s still got a little bird as his profile pic and his background is still missing.
