The number of registered iPhone Developers is not even one tenth of the two million plus Adobe Flash Developer Base so it’s hardly surprising that Apple has a strong hatred for Flash. No Flash applications are allowed to run on Apple’s two of the most successful offerings – iPhone and iPod. While Adobe has tried every trick in the bag in order to persuade Apple to allow flash on iPhone and iPod, Apple has not blinked.
As expected, Adobe decided to take the giant leap all by itself. Creative Suite, the set of Adobe’s popular flash tool repertoire will include a ‘Package for iPhone’ in its upcoming version (5). This package will transform any flash application into an iPhone app. So, while iPhone and iPod still won’t run Flash, you’d be able to get an iPhone version of almost all popular Flash applications. While Apple insists that Flash hogs battery and its poor response time is a major drag, Adobe has been quick to announce the big time success of Flash on Android thereby dismissing Apple’s concerns.
High time that the iPhone and iPod get their fair share of flash light, isn’t it?
