We all know God is a Geek [shameless plug] but is it high time that God learns to use (and bless) a smartphone? Well that’s what I’d believe if I were to follow the words of David Parrott, a London Clergyman who sought blessings for laptops and smartphones on the altar of 17th century St. Lawrence Jewry Church yesterday.
Parrott is adamant to modernize the traditional Plough Monday church service where villagers gather to bless a symbolic farm implement dragged to church’s door. He believes that today’s laborers are tech savvy and more likely to toil over notebooks, laptops, blackberries and iPhone.
I’m not sure that it’s the best thing Parrott ever did in his life while serving the church, after all it might very well harm some public sentiment of the old school church. However, I’ve to admit with Parrott where he mentions ‘Our Tongues be gentle, our e-mails be simple and our websites be accessible’!
It has to be the most tech savvy prayer I’ve heard in my lifetime. God Bless!
