Hosted in San Fran, this year’s Apple Worldwide Developers Conference will be hosted on June 7 – 11.
It was reported earlier in the month that Apple had reserved June 22 at YBCA, it was rumoured that this may be the date for WWDC, but industry analysts insist this date was too late in the month. Apple tend to host WWDC in early June.
That leaves the iPhone announcement. Could Apple be holding off from announcing iPhone 4G/HD at WWDC and instead hosting a completely separate event on the 22nd? We’ll have to wait and see. Will there be a “One more thing” moment at WWDC this year?
This year’s seminars will feature;
Application Frameworks
Sessions covering the application frameworks provide in-depth information about exciting technologies for building innovative, optimized applications for Mac OS X and iPhone OS. You’ll find sessions about porting your iPhone application to iPad and how to present an engaging experience for your users, developing with Cocoa Touch, and using the technologies in iPhone OS 4 that provide your application with great new features and options like multitasking, Game Center, and iAd.
The Application Frameworks Labs provide the opportunity for you to bring your code and work
one-to-one with the Apple engineers who wrote the high-level frameworks in iPhone OS and Mac OS X to maximize the capabilities of your application.
Core OS
Core OS sessions cover the technologies that underpin iPhone OS and Mac OS X, including the low-level graphics layer, networking, security, and hardware level services that enable high-performance applications. Networking sessions will focus on creating reliable, secure, high-performance solutions for mobile applications. The security sessions will show you how to defend your applications and your data from malicious attacks. For developers creating hardware accessories learn how to build 30-pin connector and Bluetooth connected devices.
The Core OS Labs will be staffed by Apple’s experts on device drivers, networking, security, file systems, printing and external accessories.
Developer Tools
Sessions covering developer tools will take your development to the next level by teaching you cutting edge tips and techniques for working with the Xcode developer tools. Learn time-saving tips for managing the iPhone development process, learn about the latest compiler technologies, and master Instruments to better understand your app’s performance.
After the sessions, join the Developer Tools and Performance teams in the labs for one-to-one advice, problem-solving, and tips to help improve your development.
Graphics and Media
Get immersed in the graphics and media frameworks to create rich, detailed 2D and 3D graphics, design cutting-edge games, take advantage of GPU computation, and produce platform-optimized audio and video experiences. You’ll find a range of sessions that jump into code faster and address more advanced topics than ever before. Gain a deep understanding of techniques that you can apply directly to your development.
Come to the Graphics and Media Lab to gain insights into development techniques, tackle code-level issues for graphics, animation, audio, video, and gaming, talk through your ideas, and get answers to the topics that are important to you.
Internet & Web
The latest web standards allow you to deliver audio and video, create 3D animations, build offline web applications, and more — all without the use of plug-ins. Developers and web designers will find a range of sessions that show how to leverage open web standards such as HTML5 and CSS3 to deliver premier web content in real-world scenarios. Sessions will also demonstrate advanced techniques for developing and debugging with Safari’s integrated developer tools, implementing touch and gesture detection through JavaScript on iPhone OS, and working with server-side technologies such as media encoding and HTTP Streaming.
The Internet & Web Lab will be staffed by Apple engineers and technology evangelists that can help you deliver audio and video using HTML5. Come to the lab and see how you can improve performance, handle errors, and optimize your media for different screen sizes. You can also receive guidance on implementing HTML5 offline storage, adding animations with CSS3, improving website compatibility, using Safari integrated developer tools, and more. Bring your code and your questions.
