Amazon.com has launched a free Kindle e-book reader app for Android which will be available via the Android Market. Amazon already offers versions of Kindle for the iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, Mac, PC and BlackBerry.
It make it seem clear that the real goal for Amazon.com is selling e-books, not Kindle e-readers. You can get any of the 620,000 books available on the Kindle in the Android reader, with a feature to sync your bookmarks and library across other devices so you can pick up where you left off on your laptop or Kindle reader. Compared to other Android apps, the Kindle is a winner and will likely become extremely popular on the platform.
