HTC EVO 4G the latest smartphone from HTC Corporation which is also the first phone to run on 4G network is launching in few hours in US and will be available on Sprint network, priced at $199.99 with a two-year Sprint contract, the EVO is also offered for $449.99 without starting a new 2-year or extending existing agreements with Sprint.
Since Sprint and HTC announced about the EVO 4G in March it generated the greatest degree of market anticipation and excitement for an Android phone announcement since Google’s Nexus One and is touted as a possible iPhone 3GS rival thanks to its hardware specifications and ability to run the upcoming Android 2.2 Froyo which has lots of great features.
Coming to the features, the first thing which is noticeable is its impressive 4.3-inch TFT LCD capacitive 480 x 800 pixel touchscreen screen. HTC EVO is powered by a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor and runs Android Eclair 2.1 with option of upgrading to Android 2.2 when it becomes available . It includes a an 8-megapixel camera in the rear and a 1.3 megapixel camera in the front. it could capture and playback video at 720p high-definition resolution.
The HTC Evo will use Sprint’s network of 4G access points which use WiMAX technology (802.16e) to enable high-speed Internet connectivity with average 3-6 Mbit/s download speed. This will provide users of the device with the ability to download music, pictures, files, or videos in seconds instead of minutes, as well as the ability to watch streaming high-quality HD video on the go. The device also includes built-in support for creating a mobile Wi-Fi access point on demand, allowing up to eight Wi-Fi-enabled devices to simultaneously connect to and use Sprint’s 4G network while on the go.
