eBay seems to be working furiously on expanding its mobile applications, The ecommerce giants has announced the release of eBay Selling application and its eBay for iPad application. The application is now available in Germany and the UK, and the eBay for iPad application is now translated into French, Italian, German and Spanish and currently available through Apple’s 77 iTunes App Stores.
“We continue to innovate and expand eBay’s ever-growing global presence,” said Steve Yankovich, vice president of mobile, eBay Inc. “With our mobile applications, we are reducing the friction with commerce. We are enabling eBay users around the world to window shop through the iPad and sell in seconds on the iPhone.”
In a separate announcement, eBay said that its Android app is now available for free download in the Android Market in Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom.
“The popularity of eBay’s mobile shopping applications is quickly spreading across multiple geographies,” said Yankovich, while speaking on the Android app. “More than half of eBay’s mobile gross merchandise volume comes from outside of the United States. As we seek to reduce friction in commerce, we are taking advantage of the unique features of each mobile platform. In the case of our Android app, we’re leveraging the Android’s voice search capabilities to make searching easier and faster”.
