AMD has announced that it will  shed the ATI brand name from its line of graphics products. It could make sense to the gamers and graphics enthusiasts who’ve been scratching their heads over different lineups from AMD.  AMD will be rechristening  its consumer graphics products as Radeon and professional graphics products as FirePro.

This will bring to an end of a brand name synonymous with graphics enthusiasts for 25 years. AMD acquired graphics product maker ATI for $5.4 billion in 2006. Internally, ATI, which was known as a part of AMD Graphics Product Group, continued to churn out products with ATI Radeon and ATI FirePro brands.
