Twitter has reached a phenomenal landmark. There have now been more than 20 billion tweets according to report from tracking service GigaTweet. The 20 billionth tweet was posted by a user named GGGGGGo_Lets_Go. The milestone comes just two months after the service hit 15 billion tweets and about five months since it reached 10 billion, indicating that activity levels on the microblogging service continue to accelerate.
Even though, this growth rate is pretty awesome, it should be taken into account that a lot of Twitter accounts are managed by bots which post content from RSS feeds automatically. Twitter recently stated that around 50 million tweets are posted by their users on a daily basis. This number is only going to go up in the future.
