If reports are to be believed, Apple’s next iPhone will drop the 30-pin wide dock connector used in its mobile devices in favour of a smaller 19-pin connector port to enable the earphone to move to bottom from the top.
This change is likely to annoy the Apple iPhones, iPads and iPods owners as it would not connect with the existing accessories such as speakers and chargers, this move could be a boon for accessory makers.
“It represents an opportunity for accessory vendors,” said Pete Cunningham, London-based analyst at technology research firm Canalys to Reuters who first broke this news. “The iPhone connector has been a standard for a long time now and I would expect the same to be true for a new connector, should Apple change it as expected.”
