Google Set To Pay US $22.5 MIllion FTC Fine in Apple’s Safari Privacy Case

U.S. regulators Federal Trade Commission is likely to impose a hefty US $ 22.5 million penalty on Google for bypassing the privacy settings of millions of Apple Safari web browsers users in order to serve targeted ads. Google was allegedly  using a special code to bypass the settings and install cookies on users’ computers even when such actions were supposed to be blocked by the browser.

According to a Reuters report “Members of the Federal Trade Commission voted to approve a consent decree that will allow Google to settle the agency’s investigation but admit no liability, said one of the sources, who was not authorized to speak on the record.”
