According to a preliminary ruling on Friday by International Trade Commission Judge at the Apple did not violate patents owned by Samsung in making the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This gives Apple yet another victory over Samsung in the current patent war being fought by the two companies in numerous countries around the world.
Samsung had filed a complaint last year accusing Apple of infringement and asking for the infringing products to be banned from sale in the United States. Apple too had a complaint filed against Samsung at the ITC, accusing the Korean major of copying its iPhones and iPads.
ITC Judge James Gildea’s preliminary decision is due in October. The full commission is due to decide whether to uphold or overturn its internal judge’s decision in January.
