As expected Apple took the wraps of its latest iPhone at the company’s massive press event in San Francisco. Pre-orders for the iPhone 5 will begin on September 14, and the device will ship to lucky consumers starting on September 21. The iPhone 5 will be launched in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore initially.
iPhone 5 supports 4G LTE network, sports a larger 4-inch Retina Display with a 16:9 display which runs at 1136 by 640 with five rows of icons. The new iPhone runs on a new chipset – A6, which Apple says is a full two times faster than the A5 chip in the iPhone 4S. The battery provides 8 hours of 3G talk time, as well as 8 hours of 3G and LTE web browsing.
Apple had stuck with an 8 megapixel camera and added a built-in panorama mode, the camera now supports 1080p video capture, and allows taking photos while recording video at the same time, audio system has been bolstered with a smaller improved speaker, there are now three microphones – one on the front, one on the back, and another on the bottom.
The new phone features a 80% smaller port named”Lightning”. Apple also announced iOS 6, which will see its debut on the new iPhone. iOS 6, will support offline maps for navigation and a upgraded Siri.
