Apple has always been secretive about the core component specifications of its devices, Apple’s iPhone 5’s custom made A6 processor was also the target of curiosity , thanks to tech blog AnandTech we now know the components of the A6 chip.
Analysis of the A6 die by AnandTech has confirmed that Apple is using a triple-core GPU with slightly higher clock speeds to double the graphics power of the A5, the GPU is most likely a PowerVR SGX 543MP3.
The chip also appears to use dual general purpose ARM cores, although it is known that Apple didn’t use either of ARM’s stock Cortex-A8 or Cortex-A15 designs. Instead, Apple developed its own custom variant optimized for its own uses.
