Twitter is currently being flooded with messages that “iMessage is down” or “iMessage outage.” The iMessage outage appears to have occurred around 9:00 pm BST. There has been no statement from Apple on the cause of the iMessage outage, nor has the company said when service will be restored.
iMessage users are reporting delays, failed messages and incorrect read receipt notifications. The problem does not seem to be affecting every user, but considering the fact that the service is enabled by default on every Apple device, the outage is sure to be impacting a lot of people. While iPhone users can simply text, iPad, iPod, and Mountain Lion users are stuck.
