The much anticipated, hyped and discussed Apple’s smaller variant of iPad is here , Apple also introduced a whole host of upgrades to its products — including a surprise new version of the full iPad just seven months after the third generation iPad was unveiled at the company’s special event at California Theatre.
Apple’s senior vice president Phil Shiller took the stage and introduced a pencil thin iPad mini. The smaller iPad is 7.2 millimeters thick, 0.63 pounds, comes in white and slate black. The iPad mini’s screen is 7.9-inches at 1,024 x 768 display resolution. Pricing for the device starts at US $329 (16GB), $429 (32GB), $529 (64GB).
LTE models will be available for $459 (16GB), $559 (32GB), and $659 (64GB) models. Pre-orders start this Friday, October 26 with the wi-fi only model will ship November 2nd with the LTE models shipping two weeks later.
