When it comes to music, there’s nothing more important than a good set of headphones. They can be the difference between hearing a thumping, booming bassline or almost missing it completely. Personal preference comes down to it a lot of the time, too. Some people prefer the simplicity of the bundled Apple headphones with their iPod, whilst others will veer towards the type that seal around the ear, shutting them away from the outside world to fully immerse themselves into the music they are listening to.

The EB-50s are exactly that type of ear-bud. With seven pairs of ear tips, they look to solve the problem or people with small ears, or the big-eared folks out there. In fact, forgetting about the actual quality for a moment, the amount of packed in items with the EB-50 ear-buds is astounding. As mentioned, seven ear tips, as well as a bag for the buds and even an additional jack to change it from the 3.5mm type to the larger, 5mm type found on more powerful devices, such as an amp. Hell, even the case the additional tips come in looks classy, and there’s even an odd patent pending device that helps hold the buds in your ear, if you do struggle with that.

If there’s a negative tot he EB-50s, it’s that they are a little on the heavy duty side. It’s a trade off between how they look and feel, to how they wear. The metallic looking buds and surrounding casing are reasonably heavy, but this doesn’t seem to transfer to the actual wearing of the buds, thankfully.

Importantly, none of the included paraphernalia would save a shoddy sounding performance, so it’s a good job that the EB-50s sound great. At low volume you can hear even nuances of the audio you’re listening to, and at high volume, performance stays strong too. The dynamic range is excellent, and you’ll find no complaints with these buds. Each bud is colour coded, so you’ll never mistakenly put the wrong bud in either ear, which is another nice touch.

VERDICT: When the only major negative you can find is that “they’re a bit pricey“, you know you’re onto a winner. The EB-50s are a superbly designed, great sounding set of ear buds. If you can afford them, treat yourself. Otherwise, look on with jealousy as your friends all wear these uniquely designed, superb ear buds.
