Dropbox today unveiled two new products. The first is Quick Start, which shows an instant preview of the file on Dropbox which saves the trouble of downloading the file it to know what it is. Also launched was a photos tab for the web to make it easy to view and share photos you’ve uploaded.
“Both are related to a shift that we’re seeing thats underway at Dropbox from thinking about things as files to thinking about things as users’ content.” explained Dropbox Product Manager Chris Beckman .
Quick Start will be rolling out to all Dropbox users in the coming months. With Quick Start, you can look inside many popular Office file types, figure out which one you want to download and share, and then do so. Dropbox is still working on support for Excel.
Dropbox’s new photos tab is designed to make photo sharing simpler. Before, you could only share photos one at a time, or compile them into a new folder and share them. Now you can select several photos to turn them into a virtual album, and then share them to Facebook, Twitter, or emai
