Apple’s ‘watch’ rumours may be more than just a rumour after all, Apple filed a patent application which was first noticed by AppleInsider talks about a a new “bracelet” accessory with a wraparound design where the screen would cover the entire outer surface.
Apple had filed the patent application in August 2011, the “wearable video device” described in the document could clearly serve as an advanced wristwatch, It could be used to “adjust the order of a current playlist,” review “a list of recent phone calls,” type out a message reply via a “simple virtual keyboard configuration across the face of the flexible display.”
‘Thursday’s patent application is tangible evidence that Apple is working on a so-called “iWatch.” Rumors regarding the purported device have been heating up as many industry watchers say wearable computing is the next logical step for mobile technology.
There are multiple existing patents in Apple’s quiver if it decides to build the proposed device, including a manufacturing process for curved glass, solar cell multitouch panels and “shake to charge” kinetic energy technology.’ the report concludes.
