After hacking the Twitter account of the Associated Press and tweeting out a fake news tweet that The White House had been bombed and President Obama hurt, Syrian Electronic Army has now targeted the The Guardian.
According to a blog post by the Syrian Electronic Army , 11 Guardian accounts were compromised over the weekend. Guardian’s Guardian Business and Sustainable Business had tweets promoting the SEA’s political motives.
Associated Press and The Guardian are not alone. The S.E.A. has also targeted the Twitter accounts of the BBC, NPR, CBS and FIFA according to the reports by Security firm Sophos. The likely way in was phishing emails, as reporters often jump on messages and links to check out breaking events or news leads.
