Twitter allows popular individuals to verify their Twitter profiles to avoid fake profiles  through verification check marks, Facebook  is following Twitter’s lead and have on Wednesday announced Verified Pages feature, which will also make it easier for users to find the official account of celebrities and prominent people they want to follow.

Profiles will be marked with a small blue icon with a check mark inside it to designate Verified Pages. The icon will appear beside the account holder’s name on timelines and in search results.

According to Inside Facebook, Facebook is likely “preparing for another push to get celebrities on the platform by expanding its strategic partner development team to build relationships with athletes, musicians and other entertainers.”
