Google will be releasing the latest version of its mobile operating system Android  later this month. The latest release of Android – 2.2 is christened Froyo. Google is expected to announce or release the Froyo update at the upcoming Google IO conference on May 16-18 at Google Headquarters.

Android enthusiast’s and leading community androidpolice.com got their hands on the latest release and tested it on Google’s Nexus phone. Android Police have tested the Android Froyo and Flash Player 10.1 using the Linpack benchmarking tool, the results will mightily please Android fans.

Linpack for Android was specifically created to test the performance of Dalvik VM, which is the crux of Android. On the tests carried through the Linpack tools, Froyo scored a whooping 37.5 MFLOPS processing power. The same phone loaded with Android 2.1 Eclair update scores around 6.5-7 MFLOPS. A clear 450% jump in the processing power but not to forget that Nexus One has brilliant hardware inside with Snapdragon CPU.
