Bad news for all the iPhone 3G owners who were looking forward to  Game Center, Apple’s social and gaming networking application, which is  included with iOS 4.1. Apple has confirmed that Game Center will work on the second-generation iPod touch, but not on the iPhone 3G.

The first-generation iPhone and iPod touch models are the only other iOS based devices that cannot access Game Center. Apple confirmed the compatibility of the new Game Center application on its website this week.
