Early bird gets the worm, err, the iPhone. Apple’s blockbuster and eagerly awaited iPhone 5 pre-order stock was sold out in one hour after the pre-ordering started at 8:00 a.m. this morning (at 12:01 a.m. PST on Friday, September 14).
Shipping estimates on the Apple’s online store now currently say it will take at least two weeks to deliver phones in U.K. and in other countries. Heavy traffic on Apple’s websites also led to servers going down temporarily, eager buyers were shown “We’ll be back” sign, who took to Twitter to vent out.
In a statement to All Things D, Apple spokeswoman Nat Kerris said, “Pre-orders for iPhone 5 have been incredible. We’ve been completely blown away by the customer response.”
