Apple leads the U.S. smartphone market according to a report by comScore on the mobile phone users for the November-January period.
Apple’s smartphone market share rose 3.5 percentage points between October and January, up to 37.8% of both U.S. smartphone platform and hardware sales. Samsung was second in hardware makers with 21.4%, up from 19.5% three months earlier. HTC and Motorola both experienced significant drops in market share, while LG gained slightly.
Due to higher iPhone sales, iOS market share naturally went up. iOS took a 37.8% market share in January 2013, an increase of 3.5 percentage points from its 34.3% market share in October 2012. Android went down from 53.6% in October 2012 to 52.3%.
