Google shows off a new Gmail interface for both Android and iOS, along with a new inbox experience for the web, a new inbox feature that offers automatic organization of incoming mail into groups.
Category labelled “Primary” will house messages from friends and family, and the messages which do not land in other tabs. “Social” tab will automatically contain notifications and messages from social networks sites.
The “Promotions” tab will capture deals, offers and promotions from places like shopping or coupon websites. Bills, receipts, and confirmation emails will be organized into the “Updates” group, and messages from online groups, discussion boards and mailing lists will appear in the “Forums” group.
The roll out will be in phases over the next few weeks, with users getting an option to switch to it early, in the gear shaped settings menu under “Configure Inbox.”
