In life there comes a time when you just got to let go of something that defined a generation. Today we say good bye to Pirate Bay. At 9:30am PT or 1:30 BST Pirate Bay’s plug was pulled by (one of) its ISP – Black Internet, who likely feared the court order, which would have fined them some $70,000 if they had not done so.
For now Pirate Bay is offline, and regardless what you think of [...]

Yahoo is continuing to show signs of weakness and vulnerability, with Q2 earning reports just being released they are showing a 13% decrease in earnings on the same period as last year (1.14 billion dollars from 1.35 billion dollars). Looks Yahoo is continuing to feel the pinch of recession, although as many are quick to point out, these figures are better than expected. [...]

Yep, that’s right folks Google does it again, 18% increase in this quarter’s profits or $1.48 bn for 3 months of trading. Yikes!! That’s pretty forking excellent! What does that mean for the rest of us, who knows! Maybe our Google Docs will be more secure as they have more more cash to splash about. Maybe Google will continue to offer unrivaled [...]

Microsoft are reported to be pursuing the strategy of Apple and branding/controlling the environment in which they sell in, by opening up Microsoft flagship stores. Now while the internet is buzzing with this revelation, which comes after they hired Walmart sensation, David Porter, who no doubt was brought in to help mastermind this venture; I am left wondering what a branded [...]

Regulars at Sporkings know that we are massive fans of twitter and iPhones, so we thought it about time to review another twitter app for the iPhone.
A couple of weeks ago TweetDeck joined the apps market and I’ve been testing it ever since. Here is how it stands up against TwitterFon, my previously preferred app.

Much hype will be made in the press today about Facebook raising an additional $200 million from Digital Sky Technologies valuing it at a hefty $10 billion. Granted this sounds like a lot, but isn’t as much as its 2007 valuation. Back then Microsoft threw $240 million into the ring which gave Facebook a worth of $15 billion.
DTS the Russian owned company walks out of the deal with a 2% stake [...]

While talking to fellow Editor Calvin about a meeting we were to attend I crudely drew a map of our destination, realising that what drew was a mass of lines of no real meaning I turned to Google Street View to pin point the location. This is when I came across Google Street View’s Date. Young love, so precious!

Wow Twitter has just gone down for routine maintenance, it’s 20:25 BST, and I’m missing it already! They say the will be back in an hour so contented with that in mind, I have decided to think about 2 newsworthy things that I can say about Twitter.
1. Twitter is now as mainstream as it gets. Even the DJ on Kiss FM has a feed, (I know this, as this is what the gym I attend like to play). [...]

Inspired by my article on überBusy, entitled
6 Reasons TwitterFon Is Better than Twitterrific
which attracted the attention of Ged at the Iconfactory, who claims they are to be preparing for a major release, I started to think about what I would like to see in the next iPhone App, outside of the functionality that is already present in TwitterFon.
Difficult question no doubt and technically [...]

Evolution spawned life from the depths of the oceans and thrust it out of seas and on to dry land, from that humans evolved, spent an aged getting smart, then worked out they should get into industrialism and start destroying the earth. So far so good, then along came the wise people at google, who just want to document everything and be the best library on earth. Yet again, good job. Not being content [...]
