YouTube plans to launch paid subscriptions If the rumours are true, according to a report in AdAge, the Google owned website is asking media companies with large YouTube followings— like Machinima, Maker Studios and Fullscreen — to submit ideas for paid channels that would cost “somewhere between $1 and $5 a month.”

Microsoft has today released Office 365 Home Premium, bringing the traditional Office suite — Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote, Publisher and Access – plus 20 GB of SkyDrive storage and 60 minutes of Skype-out calling per month. The whole package kicks off at US $99 a year, with a Office 365 University version that includes the same for only US $ 79 over four years.

Since earlier this week, rumors have been circulating that Apple was set to launch a new model of iPad with 128GB storage capacity. When the fifth beta for iOS 6.1 was released, developers noticed reference to a larger capacity device, dubbed an “Ultimate” ipad.

iOS 6.1 is now available as a free download from the iOS Store. According to the release notes, the update adds LTE support for additional carriers (36 for iPhone, 23 for iPad), the ability to purchase movie tickets through Siri (US only) and the feature for iTunes Match fans to download individual songs from iCloud.

Android and Apple smartphones wiped the floor with rivals and captured a whopping 92 per cent of global sales in the fourth quarter of last year according to the latest research from Strategy Analytics.

Surprise, Huawei had the third largest market share in the global smartphone industry in the fourth quarter. While the Chinese manufacturer trailed Samsung and Apple, it did unveil the Huawei Ascend P1 S, which has a 6.68mm thin design to be the thinnest smartphone made.

Apple presented its quarterly earnings report for Fiscal Year 1, 2013 and the company has reported a precedent $54.5 billion in revenue for the quarter ending December 29, 2012.
