WhatsApp had tweeted that they have processed 18 billion messages in one day on New Year’s Eve, out of which 7 billion messages were inbound and 11 billion messages outbound. WhatsApp surpassed 1 billion messages sent in a single day in November, 2011. Last August, it was handling 10 billion messages per day.
