Google’s Chrome browser popularity and usage is on the rise, according to the latest report from web analytics firm StatCounter, Chrome’s market share has gone up to 33.8 percent worldwide in July from 32.8 percent in June.
Microsoft Internet Explorer is close second at 32 percent, Mozilla’s Firefox which was among the first decent alternate to Internet Explorer is slipping [...]

Samsung is the top selling brand in Europe at the moment, a part of the credit goes to aggressive pricing in a region hit by economic pressures and the successful launch of the latest in Galaxy series Galaxy S3 in May according to Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, which bases its conclusions on more than 1 million of interviews with consumers every month.

Facebook yesterday launched a new service named Facebook Stories at facebookstories.com, a Web site that, according to Facebook, is dedicated to sharing “some of the most extraordinary, quirky, and thought-provoking stories and ideas from people around the world who make up the social graph.” Facebook might be banking on this new service to boost its public opinion and stock price.

Facebook’s stock price plunged to a below US $20, almost half the price it debuted at in May. Facebook shares are down more than 4% today, falling to as low as $19.82. When Facebook first listed on May 18, its shares opened at just over US $42.

Facebook has a total of 83 million accounts on the website which are bogus. It accounts for 8.7% of the total users, of that 8.7%, 4.8% are duplicate accounts, 2.4% are user-misclassified accounts and 1.5% are “undesirable” accounts or simply put – spam. This was revealed through Facebook’s form 10-Q filing with the US SEC for the quarterly period that ended last June 30, 2012.

Research consultancy Frank N. Magid Associates’s recently survey of 4,734 cell phone and smartphone owners revealed that 50% of people currently own an iPad, down significantly from 72% at last count. U.S. regulators Federal Trade Commission is likely to impose a hefty US $ 22.5 million penalty on Google for bypassing the privacy settings of millions of Apple Safari web browsers users in order to serve targeted ads. Google was allegedly using a special code to bypass the settings and install cookies on users’ computers even when such actions were supposed to be blocked by the browser.

Android sales declined by 5% over last year, according to a report by Strategy Analysts, Google’s mobile OS’s market share dropped from 60.6 percent a year earlier to 56.3 percent and according to the report Android may be “approaching a peak” in its market share.
