Apple announced its quarterly earnings for Q3 2013 on Wednesday, it recorded revenue of US$35.3 billion and quarterly net profit of $6.9 billion and an earnings per share of $7.47. Analysts expected the sales to be around $35.02 with a earnings per share $7.32.

Apple is testing larger display sizes potential future models for both the iPad and the iPhone according to a report from Wall Street Journal which quotes unnamed sources.
“In recent months, Apple has asked for prototype smartphone screens larger than 4 inches and has also asked for screen designs for a new tablet device measuring slightly less than 13 inches diagonally.” quotes the article.

Apple’s developer website has been inaccessible since Thursday last week and was rumoured to be compromised by hackers, Apple was tight lipped about it until this morning, yesterday Apple sent an email to developers explaining that it had detected a breach on its servers on Thursday.

After buying out Toronto-based crowd-sourced location data company Locationary, Apple purchased transit navigation app HopStop, HopStop’s deal was first reported by Bloomberg . HopStop organises data on local businesses and will be a part of the mapping suite too.

Samsung on Wednesday announced the latest in the Evo SSD lineup, by launching its new entry level solid-state drive, the 840 Evo at 2013 Samsung SSD Global Summit in Korea.
840 Evo will be available in 120 GB/250 GB/500 GB/750 GB/1 TB capacities, using 19nm Toggle 2.0 TLC, compared to the Samsung SSD 840 which uses 21nm Toggle 2.0 TLC and the 840 Pro which uses 21nm Toggle MLC.

Facebook users logging on to Facebook through their mobile phones in June rose around 20 percent in the UK and US according to Facebook. Facebook said its mobile monthly active users increased by 18 percent in the United States and by 22 percent in Britain in June compared with the previous year.
