Apple on Thursday published its best of 2012 selections on the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBookstore — and there are a few surprises. Last year, Instagram received iPhone app of the year, while Snapseed got the best iPad app.

Trion have today announced that the fifth closed beta event for MMORPG title “Rift” will kick off on the 25th of January.
Entitled “Battle of the Ascended”, this beta will include a raised level cap (up to 30), access to the Scarlet Gorge Zone and the opening of the Foul Cascade dungeon.

Yesterday I was lucky enough to be invited to a Ubisoft Games Day in London, where we were given the chance to try out Your Shape. AMD has announced that it will shed the ATI brand name from its line of graphics products. It could make sense to the gamers and graphics enthusiasts who’ve been scratching their heads over different lineups from AMD. According to Microsoft’s Major Nelson Xbox Live Gold will be more dearer in the UK, US, Canada, and Mexico from November 1 this year. A single month will see a rise of 1 GBP, it will be raised to 5.99 GBP from the current 4.99 GBP per month.

London Mayor Boris Johnson pledged a blanket Wi-Fi coverage in time for the Olympic Games in 2012 while speaking at the Google Zeigeist event in Hertfordshire. The statement comes as the city continues to upgrade its infrastructure in time for the Olympic games in 2012.
