Pinterest’s image based advertising has caught on with consumers and marketers alike, add to that its growing user base, it only makes sense for other Social Networks to jump on the bandwagon, especially for Facebook which as a publicly traded company will be eager to add a potential revenue stream.

Earlier this year Mozilla had announced that it would be developing a Metro-style version of Firefox for Windows 8.

Facebook now has a billion users, Mark Zuckerberg announced the milestone on his Facebook profile. “This morning, there are more than one billion people using Facebook actively each month. Google today updated Gmail for iOS, which now supports the iPhone 5′s 4-inch display. Instead of seeing black bars at the top and bottom of the app, Gmail users on iPhone 5 will now be able to see a bit more of their inboxes on their iphones now.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has issued an official apology for the omissions and errors in Apple’s iOS Maps app. Apple Maps often displayed businesses away from their true location, important sites were missing, search function did not understand many simple requests.

Facebook started their first real foray into e-commerce with Facebook Gifts, a service which, as the name suggests, lets users send chocolate, coffee, socks and other real life presents to one another.The company will take an unspecified cut from each item sold. Facebook is joining forces with Dropbox on a new integration that allows Facebook users to share content stored in their Dropbox accounts directly with contacts in Facebook Groups. Facebook has begun implementing many of the changes and rules to detect and delete fake activity including fake accounts and likes. Apple on Monday released a statement on the sales figure of its latest iteration of iPhone, the first weekend sales of the iPhone 5 topped five million, beating the opening weekend for the iPhone 4S nearly by one million units, in the first three days.
