The worst kept tech secret of last week is true – Microblogging website Tumblr is being acquired by Yahoo. Marissa Mayer announced the deal today morning along with a “promise not to screw it up.” Yohoo! is coughing $1.1 billion for Tumblr, “substantially all of which is payable in cash,” Yahoo said.

Google has introduced push alert support for apps in Google Chrome browser or Chrome OS. The protocol called Google Cloud Messaging for Chrome is designed to let apps receive notifications from outside Chrome and respond to them more efficiently.

Microsoft has on Monday launched Skype video calling features for Outlook.com, which allows users to make video calls directly from their Browsers. Users here in the UK will be the first to recieve the feature.
