Google got a rap on its knuckle again for it’s Streetview violation, it was fined 145,000 euros by The Hamburg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information a German regulator for collecting wireless network data by its Street View cars. The Hamburg Commissioner called the company’s acts “one of the most serious cases of violation of data protection” in German history.

Google’s Chairman Eric Schmidt has defended Google’s low tax payments in UK, claiming that Google operates within the law and is responsible for “billions of pounds” of spend in the country.

Prices for Windows 8 powered touch screen devices, including laptops, are set to plunge according to Intel CEO Paul Otellini. Mobile devices based on Intel running Windows 8 currently are at least 60% expensive than Android powered hardware in the same segment.

Google Apps and many of the products within it, including Gmail, Google Docs, Google Chat and so forth are down for many for the past 30 minutes or so. The Google Apps Status Dashboard is denying the outage.
This is not the first time some portion of Google Apps has gone offline, and Gmail has had its share of troubles. Still, both services are up and active far more than these occasional glitches.

PC sales registered “steepest decline ever in a single quarter” by falling as much as 14 percent this quarter on a year over year basis according to a report by IDC, who had earlier forecasted a 7.7 percent decline, this is the biggest decline since IDC started tracking the PC market nearly two decades ago.

Twitter was fast in rolling out the new Twitter Card formats Twitter’s mobile iPhone and Android apps and mobile.twitter.com.
Twitter for Android gets a brand new look and feel to the social app which according to Twitter “reflects a native Android experience: wider and taller timelines that fill the screen, a flat navigation bar, tap and hold for quick actions, and more.”

Twitter came out with a new functionality on Tuesday which is meant to help mobile app developers make money, the new feature last night called “Cards” lets developers to display photos, app information and products for sale in a more visual, prominent manner.

Microsoft’s tablets currently have a minimum 10 inch display, smaller devices running Microsoft OS were on the cards with Microsoft making changes to the resolution requirements which would have enabled hardware manufacturers to put Windows 8 mobile OS on smaller 7-inch tablets. Samsung and Mozilla announced plans today to jointly develop a web browser engine called “Servo” which will be designed for Android and the ARM architecture.
Mozilla CTO Brendan Eich provided more details in a blog post :

Microsoft has quietly made a change to the resolution requirements for Windows 8 devices which is quite significant as it will enable hardware manufacturers to put Windows 8 mobile OS on smaller 7-inch tablets, enabling Windows 8 to take on devices running Android and iOS.
