World’s largest phone maker Samsung announced on Monday that it would stop making desktop PCs because of abysmal demand and fast shrinking profits and instead focus on tablets and laptops. “Demand for conventional desktop PCs is going down,” a Samsung official told The Korea Times. “We will allocate our resources to popular connected and portable devices.”

NetNewsWire which was introduced in 2002 and is probably the oldest news reader still under development has got a beta release for OSX, while in beta it’s available as a free download, it will cost $20 when releases go out of beta, the iPad and iPhone versions are still under development.

Facebook now allows users to post pictures in comments. Facebook added a new camera button that enables users to reply to posts with pictures uploaded from their computers.
The photo comment feature is in the process of being rolled out, to both desktop and mobile versions. it will not however support animated GIFs unlike Google+.

Facebook has joined the hashtag fray, which was a staple of Twitter, Tumblr, Pintrerest as well as Facebook’s Instagram, it introduced the hashtag feature on Wednesday that allows users to add the # symbol before a word to signify its topic. The topic would then be easily searchable by other users on Facebook.

Yahoo has just announced through a tweet on Wednesday that they have purchased GhostBird Software, the makers of advanced iOS photography apps, KitCam and PhotoForge and will be integrated with Flickr.
GhostBird has said that no further development will be done on either app, and they don’t intend to support new versions of iOS in an announcement on their website.

Apple has reportedly closed a deal with Sony Music to launch its long anticipated and rumored iRadio service. Apple had already signed deals with both Warner and Universal, the news was first reported on Friday by Peter Kafka of AllThingsD, who cited an unnamed person familiar with negotiations between the two companies.

Twitter launched Vine for Android on Monday, the Android version of it’s popular video capturing and sharing service via Google Play.
Vine app for iOS has been available since January with about 13 million active users soon after Twitter purchased it. The Android version does not have al lthe goodies of it’s iOS counterpart.

Tumblr has expanded the it’s sponsored posts to it’s web dashboards, it was introduced to its mobile apps last month. Users will be able to re-blog the ads like follow and share the ads directly from their dashboard, the sponsors posts will be marked with a dollar sign so the users know they are paid posts.
