Amazon Kindle Reader’s chief competitor Barnes & Noble has slashed the price of its NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight ereader in the US bringing the illuminated e-paper slate from $119 to $ 99, strengthening rumours that a newer model might be announced soon. Amazon has announced on Thursday that they are acquiring Goodreads,which bills itself as “the world’s largest site for readers and book recommendations.”
Goodreads.com was founded in 2007 and since then has built a reported user base of 16 million members, who have added 525 million books and 23 million reviews.

Amazon on Tuesday launched Unity plugins to enable developers integrate in-app purchasing and GameCircle features to their Kindle Fire games and apps. The plugins will be available via its Developer page.

Magid Associates’s recently survey of 4,734 cell phone and smartphone owners revealed that 50% of people currently own an iPad, down significantly from 72% at last count.
