The rumours about a 7 inch variant of iPad tablet, called “iPad mini” and its launch on October 23 seem to be correct. Apple on Tuesday sent invitations to members of press to a event which will be held in on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at the California Theatre in San Jose, California. The invite says: “We’ve got a little more to show you.”

Apple has struck a deal to use Swiss railway operator SBB’s trademark station clock design on iPads and iPhones. SBB, which holds the trademark for a 1944 design raised concern when the clock appeared in Apple’s iOS 6 operating system.

Apple’s alleged 7 inch variant of iPad tablet, the so called “iPad mini” is now expected to be unveiled at an event on October 23 according to a report by AllThingsD who quotes “people familiar with Apple’s plans.”
If the report turns out to be true, Apple could steal some of the limelight from Microsoft, which is debuting its Surface tablet on October 26.

After last week reports that Apple’s manufacturing vendors had started off production of a smaller iPad, which has been dubbed the ‘iPad mini’,the Wall Street Journal which has reported the initial story is now reporting Apple has ordered more than 10 million units for the last quarter of this year.

Apple’s suppliers have already started production of the smaller version of iPad according to Wall Street Journal reports.

Apple on Monday released a statement on the sales figure of its latest iteration of iPhone, the first weekend sales of the iPhone 5 topped five million, beating the opening weekend for the iPhone 4S nearly by one million units, in the first three days.
iOS 6, the mobile operating system run by the iPhone 5 and available to other iPhones, Apple added, has now been downloaded more than 100 million times.

Switzerland’s national rail operator SBB accused Apple of stealing the iconic look of its station clocks for the iOS 6 operating system used by iPhone and iPad mobile devices. iOS6 includes a clock icon with black and red hands that uses an SBB design created in 1944.

After backlash its new iOS Maps app from reviewers and users since iOS 6’s launch yesterday, Apple PR person Trudy Miller told AllThingsD in a statement:

Twitter is abuzz with reports and retweets that Apple’s iMessage may be experiencing outages. Apple’s system status shows no signs of an outage, however the steady stream of users on Twitter reporting disruptions in service continues.
