Apple’s shares rose to a record high on Friday and the company’s market value surpassed US $600 billion as investors look forward to the launch of a new iPhone and possibly a smaller iPad, as well as a new television product.
Apple stock hit $645.48 in intraday trading, before settling at to $645.02. That was up $8.68, or 1.4 percent, from Thursday’s close.

Google Inc. has agreed to pay $22.5 million to settle Federal Trade Commission charges for misleading users about its tracking activities on Apple Inc.’s Safari browser. Federal Trade Commission’s penalty is the largest FTC penalty for violating a commission order so far.

Google’s Chrome browser popularity and usage is on the rise, according to the latest report from web analytics firm StatCounter, Chrome’s market share has gone up to 33.8 percent worldwide in July from 32.8 percent in June.

U.S. regulators Federal Trade Commission is likely to impose a hefty US $ 22.5 million penalty on Google for bypassing the privacy settings of millions of Apple Safari web browsers users in order to serve targeted ads.
