As expected Apple took the wraps of its latest iPhone at the company’s massive press event in San Francisco. Pre-orders for the iPhone 5 will begin on September 14, and the device will ship to lucky consumers starting on September 21. The iPhone 5 will be launched in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore initially.

According to Canaccord Genuity, Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone has dethroned Apple’s iPhone 4S as the bestselling smartphone in the US in August. If reports are to be believed, Apple’s next iPhone will drop the 30-pin wide dock connector used in its mobile devices in favour of a smaller 19-pin connector port to enable the earphone to move to bottom from the top.
