Samsung shipped 52.1 million smartphones, double the number of iPhones shipped by its leading rival Apple in the second quarter of 2012 according to estimates by Juniper Research. Samsung’s numbers were mainly due to its flagship phone Galaxy S3 which achieved sales of 10 million in June.

Nokia N8
Nokia has announced that its new smartphone, the Nokia N8, will be available in Nokia’s online shop for immediate delivery from October 15, and in UK stores from October 22.
Carphone Warehouse, O2, Orange, Phones4u, T-Mobile, Tesco Phone Shops, Three Mobile, Virgin Mobile and Vodafone will be stocking the phone which will sell for £429 SIM free or on contract from £30 per month.

Foursquare on Symbian OS
Nokia unveiled Foursquare application for mobile OS Symbian^3 based phones at Nokia World in London yesterday . The mobile app will debut at the revamped Ovi Store as a featured application early next week.
Foursquare for Nokia is nicely integrated with Ovi Maps with the style and function similar to the Foursquare apps on other mobile Operating Systems.

According to reports Nokia will introduce its new E7 smartphone at its Nokia World event in London next week, and the device may pack both a “large” touchscreen and a full QWERTY keyboard.
