Taiwanese phone maker HTC has announced a revenue and profit warnings for Q3 2013 which says that HTC may make its first ever loss in 16 years – first time since it’s inception.

Samsung’s market value eroded on Friday by US $12 Billion which is 6 percent of its value due to brokerage downgrades that have highlighted concerns about slowing sales of its flagship Galaxy S4 smartphone according to a report by Reuters.

Facebook unveiled HTC First, the first Android powered smartphone that will debut with the Facebook Home suite of integrated apps with it right from the start at the “Home on Android” event.
HTC First is equipped with a 4.3-inch screen, a 5-megapixel camera, a front-facing camera, and a dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor and runs Android Jelly Bean.

Samsung shipped 52.1 million smartphones, double the number of iPhones shipped by its leading rival Apple in the second quarter of 2012 according to estimates by Juniper Research. Samsung’s numbers were mainly due to its flagship phone Galaxy S3 which achieved sales of 10 million in June.

58 percent of people in UK send text messages each day, that’s way ahead of 47 percent who prefer making phone calls according to a study by Ofcom, the Independent regulator for the UK communications industries.

A recent Nielsen survey revealed that two-thirds of new mobile phones purchased in the second quarter of 2012 were smartphones. Nielsen also reported that just under 55% of all U.S. mobile subscribers owned smartphones.
