Android and iOS once again dominated the smartphone market with 91.1 percent of all global smartphone shipments for the fourth quarter of 2012. Android and Apple shipped and landed 87.6 percent of the 722.4 million smartphones shipped worldwide in 2012 according to a report by IDC.

Apple and Samsung accountes for 52 percent of all global smartphone sales in fourth quarter of 2012 according to a report by Gartner. Overall, mobile phone sales declined across the globe by 1.7 percent last year, the last time when sales fell were in 2009.
