Microsoft on Tuesday had made public it’s plan to buy Nokia’s devices and services division which makes Nokia smartphones by paying about US $7 billion. $5 billion is for Nokia’s devices business and around $2.2 billion for the rights to Nokia’s patents.

Opera which was popular desktop browser and only viable alternate to Internet Explorer a decade ago has found acceptance and success on both the Android and iOS platform with the Android app having half a million review, it is no surprise that the makers are looking at having a Windows Mobile app.

Google has again blocked YouTube app on Windows Phones for violating the terms of use even after the issue was sorted out between the two tech giants.

Google is unhappy with the version 3.0 official YouTube app for Windows Phone which was released last week. Google reportedly sent Microsoft a cease and desist letter today, which The Verge has reported, the lack of ads on the YouTube app for Windows Phone seems to be the primary complaint.

The Windows Phone marketplace now has 145,000 apps up from Microsoft’s figure of 120,000 apps in October 2012. The fact was mentioned by Microsoft in a post announcing the Nokia Lumia 928.

Nokia is getting inspired from Apple by having exclusive press events and sending out invites that gives only a hint of what it might be about. Nokia has sent out an invite to the members of the press to an event here in London on May 14. The invite teases “See what’s next” followed by “The Nokia Lumia story continues.”
